Where do you buy your books?

Values drive decisions and decisions are a reflection of our values. Even if we are not conscious of this fact, it’s a universal truth.

Take the decision to buy a book. There are multiple ways to buy books. If you’re a Prime Member, the fastest and cheapest way to buy a book is on Amazon.

But, what if you value small, independently-owned bookstores? You have a choice. Support the Amazon Industrial Complex or your local, community business owner running a bookstore.

In my case, my favorite local bookstore is woman-owned and supports our community by offering comfy spaces for people to gather, browse books, purchase gifts, and enjoy a latte or a locally baked good.

When I want a book, I make a point to purchase from Roundabout Books because I value all of these things: community, local business owners (especially women), physical bookstores, and local businesses supporting each other.

Yes, I’m paying more for the book than I would on Amazon, but I’m voting with my dollars while upholding my values.

When we let our values drive our decisions, we get to see more of the world we desire reflected in our lives.

If you’re wondering what book I just purchased, it’s Seth Godin’s latest book, This Is Strategy. Any book written by Seth Godin is worth reading and I’m sure this one is no exception.

Look for this book and others at your local, small, independently-owned bookstore!
